Farmer Testimonials

John Hoffman

First VP, American Soybean Association

Consumers across the United States are demanding healthier foods in their diets, and trans-fat labeling on the food panel is an indication of health in their food requirements. So food manufacturers are moving towards healthier alternatives within their food manufacturing process. So the American Soybean Association is very supportive of this move towards low-lin soybeans like the Vistive brand in the food cooking industry. The ASA was pleased when Monsanto announced their commitment to North American soybean growers that new products like Vistive would be grown exclusively in North America, with the caveat that we must meet global demand and be price-competitive. That gives these soybean farmers a competitive advantage, a value-added competitive advantage over growers overseas. So when soybean producers are making their seed selections this winter, making their planting decisions for next year,s crop, the ASA would encourage them to take a look at low-lin soybeans like the Vistive low-lin soybean, and see how it fits in on their farms and into their planting decisions. I think they,ll find that the premiums that are paid for these low-lin soybeans may be advantageous on their farms. And certainly selecting low-lin soybeans like the Vistive low-lin soybean will help the U.S. soybean industry.
