Farmer Testimonials

Rich Haack

Grower, Sheldon, IA

Well, I'm Rich Haak. I operate a very small farm--it's a quarter section. And I'm also involved with county government. So this is the home farm for me, and I've been growing Vistive beans on half of the farm. Well, it was a year ago when I started talking about Vistive beans and what I really liked about the Vistive, when I first heard about it was it's meeting a need that I think all of us are looking for, and that's better nutrition. That would be the thing that appeals to me. We're trying to produce a food product through the soybean oil that I'm quite certain is going to do nothing but increase in demand. I can't imagine anyone saying that no I'd rather eat the trans-fatty acids. I think that everybody is looking for less trans-fatty acids, and that's what this soybean is all about. The yield was very comparable to what I heard from surrounding farm places. And I was pleased with the yield. And the premium was just that much of a bonus as far as I was concerned. We certainly want to continue to produce American-grown product to meet American need. And Vistive beans should help us do that. Our industry changes all the time, and when we look at things all around us in food production, that's the case and certainly in the case of soy oil. I'm sure there are going to be more and more changes, and this is a change that's for the better, right now. It's probably as good as we've got in terms of looking at low trans-fatty acid foods. And I think this is what it's about.
